Catholic Drama and Real Emotions

When an Italian opera singer asks you to document their wedding in the heart of Little Italy, you know you’re in for an audio-visual treat…

From the hubbub of the local café to the choral arrangement that sound-tracked the service, Sophia and Luke’s day was as much a treat for the ears as for the eyes.

The oldest Italian church in the UK, London’s iconic skyline and the dramatically frescoed walls of the RSA certainly played their part in creating a wonderfully atmospheric collection of frames.

But this film’s core theme is really that of family… cracked voices during speeches, tender embraces and tributes to the loved ones who, though sorely missed, made this day possible.

Wedding theme:

One note from our initial call stood out to us: “Catholic drama” – and wow, this wedding had plenty of that.

Our approach:

We made sure to get to the church super early in the morning, so we could get the shots needed to create a “Conclave-esque” intro to the film, as we knew there would be little time once the full ceremony got underway.

We then nipped across Clerkenwell to capture shots of the prep before heading back to the church for the service.

And what a service it was – luckily for us, the balconies and wings allowed us to capture it in all its glory!

Our next stop was the RSA, but we made sure we took the long way to get there, allowing us to capture some beautiful riverside shots before the light faded.

The main reception room in the RSA oozed with history, and felt very fitting for a day that was about looking backwards as well as forwards.

And an honourable mention needs to go to the venue’s cellars, which played host to some absolutely unhinged 90s RnB revival dance moves long into the night!
