Beat-up Land Rovers, Animals Galore and a Massive Marquee
During our first meeting, Josh and Elisa casually mentioned something about getting married in the local church, pitching a tent in a field, growing a few flowers and their desire for having a fun evening with their mates.
The phrase “DIY” may have been mentioned at one point.
But the more we chatted, the more it became clear, this wasn’t just any old village fete…
Nope, this was going to be an event that would be talked about for miles around.
The most beautiful marquee we’d ever seen was erected, a literal truckload of booze was dropped off and the field… oh, the field!
But amongst all the revelry, the true essence of the day was never lost – the life that Josh and Elisa are building together, surrounded by animals in the beautiful rolling hills of County Durham.

This DIY wedding was full of colour, full of fun, full of animals and full of personal touches.
Our approach:
Have fun, they did.
We split up to ensure that we could capture all the fun stuff that kicked off the day… pints of Guinness, surprise puppies and Josh’s tear-strewn face.
After more tears during the ceremony at the oh-so-cute local church, we made a pit-stop in a random field - down a random lane - to capture Josh and Elisa in their element, trudging through mud, surrounded by beautiful horses and a trusty old Land Rover.
We then raced to the main field to capture them arriving, before sneaking off for a few more couples shots by a beautiful river, before the debauchery began…
And what an evening it was. Festival organisers should take note… this is how you do it!
